What are the natural shades of glow spray?
Natural shades are glow sprays whose coat looks light and whitish by day and glows green, blue-green, blue or white in the dark. Because the daylight colour is not strongly tinted, Natural Green, Natural Blue-Green and Natural Blue glow more strongly and for longer than the coloured glow spray shades. White also belongs to this group: it stays very light by day but glows only briefly. For a gold or silver tone by day, see glow spray in gold & silver.
Which colours are among the natural shades?
The group includes four glow sprays of 400 ml each. By day they look alike; in the dark they differ clearly. The table compares daylight colour, glow colour and glow strength.
| Glow spray | Daylight colour | Glow in the dark | Glow strength |
|---|---|---|---|
| Natural Green | whitish, slight green tint | green | strong |
| Natural Blue-Green | whitish, slight green tint | blue-green | strong |
| Natural Blue | whitish | calm blue | slightly weaker than Natural Green |
| White | whitish, very light | white | short and weak |
The glow strength compares the sprays with one another. How brightly a surface actually glows also depends on the surface underneath, the number of coats and the charge.
Natural Green, Natural Blue-Green or Natural Blue: what is the difference?
The three shades differ mainly in their glow colour. By day they look very similar.
- Natural Green: whitish with a slight green tint by day, green in the dark. One of the strongest shades in the spray range and a good fit when the glow matters most.
- Natural Blue-Green: equally whitish with a slight green tint by day and also one of the strongest shades. The glow is blue-green.
- Natural Blue: light and whitish by day, a calm blue in the dark. It glows slightly more weakly than Natural Green, but considerably more strongly than strongly tinted shades.
For a blue glow, Natural Blue is usually a better choice than Blue-Blue. Blue-Blue is already bold blue by day, but it glows more weakly and for a shorter time.
When is White the right choice?
White suits surfaces that should stay as discreet and light as possible by day and only show a brief effect in the dark. It has a white afterglow, but only briefly and fairly weakly. It is chosen mainly for its very light daylight shade. For a long, strong glow, use Natural Green or Natural Blue-Green.
What are the natural shades suitable for?
Natural shades suit objects and surfaces that should look understated by day and be visible in the dark as an effect or for orientation. On white or light surfaces they are barely noticeable by day – and that is also where they glow most strongly. The spray adheres to wood, metal, stone, plastic and many other surfaces. Outdoors, cover the dry coat with a transparent acrylic or exterior varnish. The glow is an effect in real darkness and does not replace a lamp.
How long do the natural shades glow?
After a full charge, in complete darkness, Natural Green, Natural Blue-Green and Natural Blue glow for several hours – the more coats and material, the longer. The glow is strongest in the first few minutes. White, by contrast, glows only briefly. All four charge with daylight or lamplight, fastest with UV light, as often as you like. The page Afterglow explained shows how charging and fading work.
How to apply the natural shades
Application is the same for all glow sprays: clean the surface, prime dark surfaces in a light colour and spray two to three thin coats from a distance of about 30 cm. You will find the detailed guide under glow spray. Not for children under 14. The safety data sheet (SDS) is available under safety data sheets.
