Joints that glow in the dark

An elastic sanitary silicone with built-in glow pigments: in the light the joint is white with a very faint blue-green sheen – that is the excited glow pigments –, in the dark it glows light blue. This turns shower edges, washbasins, steps or door thresholds into an orientation aid at night – entirely without electricity.

Properties

Contents: 310 ml cartridge including nozzle
Colour: white with a very faint blue-green sheen in the light (excited pigments), light blue in the dark
Glow: visible for several hours after charging with daylight or lamplight, in complete darkness; the longer the charge, the better
Sealant: elastic, one-component, neutral-curing and low-odour; with fungicidal treatment; resistant to weathering, ageing and UV; max. movement capability 25%; good adhesion to metals and many plastics
Base silicone: very low emissions according to GEV EMICODE EC1 PLUS, paint-compatible according to DIN 52452-4
Coverage: approx. 12 m of joint at 5 × 5 mm, approx. 3 m at 10 × 10 mm

How to use the glow silicone

Like conventional silicone, with a cartridge gun – there is nothing special to consider. Suitable for sealing joints and connection joints in sanitary areas, glazing and window construction, metal construction, roofing and sheet metal work, and heating, ventilation and air conditioning. For the joint to glow, it has to be charged with light; daylight or the bathroom light in the evening is enough.

Good to know

Not suitable for aquarium construction, as a mirror adhesive, on natural stone, in areas with direct food contact, for full-surface bonding or on plastics with poor silicone adhesion such as PE, PP and PTFE. Make underwater joints with particular care (a primer is often needed) and always designate them as maintenance joints. Painting over it covers the glow effect. Technical product.
