What is glow in the dark powder coating?
Glow in the dark powder coating is a phosphorescent, satin-matt clear powder coating based on polyester that glows blue-green in the dark. You process it like other powder coatings. By day the coating looks semi-transparent greenish white. The powder coating is made in Germany and comes in 1 kg.
Which substrates does it adhere to?
The powder coating adheres to metal as well as glass, ceramics and clay, and is suitable for indoor and outdoor use. The surface is smooth, scratch-resistant, resistant to weathering and splash water, and protects against corrosion.
How to apply glow powder coating
- Prepare the surface as for any powder coating.
- Coat onto a white base: the clear coating lets the base show through, and white boosts the glow.
- Apply by tribo or corona manual coating, recommended film thickness 80–100 µm.
- Curing: 8–15 minutes at 160 °C or 5–10 minutes at 180 °C object temperature.
- Test on a sample piece first.
How long does the coating glow?
The coating glows for several hours after a full charge, in complete darkness, most intensely in the first few minutes. How bright and how long depends on the area, film thickness and charge. It charges best with daylight or UV light, but also with lamps and torches. To learn how the glow is created, read afterglow explained.
