Glow jelly is a granule mix you prepare yourself: with 1 litre of tap water it forms a firm, jelly-like gel that stores light and releases it again in the dark. It glows without electricity and can be recharged with light again and again – for example as a bottle or preserving-jar light. By day the mass is pink and sparkles in the jar; in the dark it glows green.

Properties

  • Yield: 45 g of granule mix and 1 litre of tap water make approx. 1 litre of gel
  • Mixing: stir or shake vigorously for approx. 3 minutes until the mass is firm
  • Colour: pink, with glitter by day; green in the dark
  • Charging: with sunlight or lamplight, as often as you like
  • Composition: glow pigments and water-retaining granules, balanced for a good glow effect
  • No technology: no electricity, no battery, no cable

How to use the glow jelly

  1. Put the contents into a larger container that holds at least 1 litre, for example a clip-top or preserving jar.
  2. Pour in 1 litre of tap water.
  3. Stir or shake vigorously for about 3 minutes so the glow pigment is evenly distributed as the gel swells.
  4. Place the jar in daylight or hold it under a lamp – the gel will then glow in the dark.

Ideas: bottle lamp, table decoration, gentle orientation in the hallway, light in the tent when camping, decoration on balconies and terraces. Tip: As a night light, the jar charges well next to the bedside lamp.

What's included

1 plastic tub with 45 g glow jelly Pink/Yellow-Green with glitter, makes approx. 1 litre of gel. Container not included.

Good to know

The gel glows for orientation and as an effect; it does not replace a lamp. It becomes visible in real darkness. Kept tightly closed, i.e. without air getting in, the prepared gel lasts a long time; how quickly it dries out depends on how well the container seals. Not a toy and not suitable for consumption. Not suitable for children under the age of 5. Leftovers can be disposed of with household waste. We will send you the safety data sheet on request.

Frequently asked questions

How do I prepare the glow jelly?
Put the contents into a container holding at least 1 litre, pour in 1 litre of tap water and stir or shake vigorously for about 3 minutes until the mass is firm. Then place it in the light.
How often can I charge the gel?
As often as you like. The gel absorbs light from the sun or a lamp and releases it again in the dark – without electricity or batteries.
How long does the gel glow?
Several hours after a full charge in complete darkness. It is most intense in the first few minutes, then the glow gradually becomes weaker. It is suitable as an orientation light, not as a reading lamp.
What does the glitter do?
The mixed-in glitter sparkles in the jar by day, so the gel also looks decorative in bright conditions. In the dark, the afterglow takes over.
How long does the prepared gel last?
Kept tightly closed, i.e. without air getting in, it lasts a long time. How quickly the gel dries out depends on how well the container seals: the tighter the jar closes, the longer it stays fresh.
How do I dispose of the gel?
You can dispose of leftovers with household waste.
