The “Rainbow” set combines classic watercolour painting with glow-in-the-dark pigments: during the day you see a normal watercolour, in a dark room the picture glows exactly where you applied the paint. A water brush is included – all you need is paper.

Properties

  • Colours: orange, red, yellow, green and blue; the daylight and night colours differ for each shade
  • Contents: 5 pans of 2 g watercolour each
  • Brush: water brush, paint without a water jar – even on the go
  • Charging: with sunlight or lamp light, as often as you like
  • Glow: several hours, depending on the shade; tinted shades glow more weakly
  • Handmade: the paints are made by hand
  • Origin: Made in Germany

How to paint with the glow watercolours

  1. Fill the brush's tank with water and moisten the paint in the pan.
  2. Paint as usual and let the picture dry.
  3. Place the picture in the sun for a few minutes or hold it under a bright lamp.
  4. Look at it in a dark room – it glows at its strongest in the first few minutes.

Tip: White paper and a generous application of paint glow more strongly than thin washes. Plan your motif with both pictures in mind – the daylight and night colours differ.

What's included

1 box with a clear lid containing 5 pans of watercolour (2 g each) and 1 water brush.

Good to know

The afterglow is visible in real darkness, not in a bright room. A true red afterglow is technically not possible: the red shade glows greenish in the dark. The paints are intended for painting on paper, not for painting on skin. We will send you the safety data sheet on request.

Frequently asked questions

How long does the picture glow?
Several hours, depending on the shade – after a full charge, in complete darkness. It is at its strongest in the first few minutes; after that it turns into a faint glimmer. Tinted shades glow for a shorter time than greenish ones.
Do I need extra water and a brush?
No. You fill the enclosed water brush with water, use it to moisten the paint and paint straight away. A water jar is not needed.
What do I charge the paints with?
With any light source. Sunlight charges them fully in a few minutes (6–9 minutes), UV light even faster; under normal lamp light it takes longer. This can be repeated as often as you like.
Why does the colour look different in the dark than by day?
The daylight colour comes from the tint, the afterglow from the glow pigments. That is why the daylight and night colours differ for each shade. The product images show which colour glows how.
Are the paints radioactive?
No – like all modern glow pigments. The glow comes solely from stored light.
