In daylight the powder is a strong yellow and sparkles; in the dark it has a greenish-yellow afterglow. So it stands out by day and by night. The light yellow shade glows more strongly than dark tinted shades, but for a shorter time than the whitish glitter powders.

Properties

  • Material: mix of fine, transparent glitter and glow pigment based on strontium aluminate; insoluble in water
  • Afterglow duration: up to 4 hours after a full charge in complete darkness; slightly weaker than pure pigment because of the glitter content
  • Colour: yellow in daylight; greenish yellow in the dark
  • Particle size: approx. 75–120 µm (1 µm = one thousandth of a millimetre)
  • Heat-resistant: up to 150 °C
  • Classification: not classified as hazardous under CLP – see safety data sheet

How to use the glitter powder

Stir the powder into a colourless carrier, such as epoxy or casting resin, clear varnish, gel, wax, wallpaper paste or adhesive. As a starting point we recommend approx. 20% powder, relative to the carrier (10–50%). The higher the proportion, the more intense the glow. Test the mix on a small sample first.

  • The powder can also be scattered directly onto tacky or absorbent surfaces.
  • The more transparent and lighter the carrier, the stronger the glow. Prime dark surfaces in a light colour first.
  • For outdoor use, choose weather-resistant binders such as synthetic resin varnish; indoors, solvent-free carriers such as clear varnish or wallpaper paste are suitable.

What's included

50 g glitter powder Yellow in a poly bag.

Good to know

Because of the glitter content, the powder glows slightly less than pure pigment – but it sparkles in daylight. Afterglow is an effect, not lighting: it becomes visible in real darkness. Not a toy. Avoid dust and contact with skin and eyes when working with it.

Frequently asked questions

How do I apply the glitter powder?
Either stir it into a colourless carrier such as resin, clear varnish, gel or adhesive – starting value approx. 20% – or scatter it directly onto a tacky or absorbent surface. Test on a small sample first.
Does glitter powder glow as strongly as pure glow powder?
Slightly less, because part of the mix consists of glitter, which does not glow. In return, the powder sparkles in daylight. For maximum afterglow, pure glow powder is the better choice.
What charges the powder and how long does it take?
With any light source. Guide values for a full charge: UV light from 365 nm 2–4 minutes, sunlight 6–9 minutes, fluorescent lamp 20–24 minutes, incandescent bulb approx. 25 minutes. After that it glows at its strongest and gradually fades.
