The glow varnish is ready to use: stir, paint, charge with light. In daylight Blue-Green is whitish with a slight green tint and hardly noticeable on light surfaces; in the dark it glows blue-green – one of the strongest shades in our varnish range. Ideal for starry skies, light switch surrounds or markings on doors and steps.

Properties

  • Type: ready-to-use acrylic-based glow varnish – stir, paint, done
  • Surfaces: paper, cardboard, wallpaper, canvas, wood, stone, rubber and glass
  • Application: with a brush or roller, approx. 40 µm per coat; 3–4 coats for maximum afterglow; one tin covers over 2.5 m² with three coats
  • Colour: whitish with a slight green tint in daylight, blue-green in the dark
  • Charging: with daylight or lamp light, fastest with UV light or sunlight
  • Origin: Made in Germany

How to paint

  1. Clean the surface and let it dry. Highly absorbent surfaces such as wallpaper, paper or wood can be painted directly; prime smooth surfaces such as glass or painted metal first.
  2. Stir the varnish thoroughly, especially at the bottom of the tin – the glow pigments settle over time.
  3. Apply with a brush or roller, approx. 40 µm per coat. The varnish is dry after approx. 1 hour, and you can apply the next coat after approx. 1 hour. 3–4 coats give maximum afterglow.
  4. Outdoors, additionally seal the dried layer with clear varnish – the glow varnish itself is not weather-resistant.

Tip: The lighter the surface, the more strongly the varnish glows. Prime dark surfaces white first.

What's included

Frequently asked questions

How many coats do I need?
3–4 coats for maximum afterglow, approx. 40 µm per coat. You can apply the next coat after approx. 1 hour. Absorbent surfaces can be painted directly; prime smooth surfaces first.
Can I use the glow varnish outdoors?
The varnish is intended for indoor use and is not weather-resistant. Outdoors, additionally seal the dried layer with a clear varnish. The glow is only visible where it is really dark.
Why has something settled at the bottom of the tin?
Those are the glow pigments. They are heavier than the varnish and sink over time. Stir thoroughly right down to the bottom before painting, and they will disperse again.
Can you see the varnish by day?
Hardly. In daylight it has a very light, greenish shimmer and looks almost transparent, similar to dried liquid glue. The thicker you apply it, the more visible and opaque it becomes.
Which varnish colour glows the strongest?
Green and Blue-Green with a whitish daylight colour glow the strongest and longest. For technical reasons, tinted shades such as orange, and white, glow more weakly and for a shorter time.
