The glow varnish is ready to use: stir, paint, charge with light. White stays white and inconspicuous in daylight and glows whitish in the dark. To be honest: white only glows briefly and fairly weakly – it is chosen mainly for its very light daylight colour.

Properties

  • Type: ready-to-use acrylic-based glow varnish – stir, paint, done
  • Surfaces: paper, cardboard, wallpaper, canvas, wood, stone, rubber and glass
  • Application: with a brush or roller, approx. 40 µm per coat; 3–4 coats for maximum afterglow; one tin covers over 2.5 m² with three coats
  • Colour: white by day, whitish in the dark
  • Charging: with daylight or lamplight, fastest with UV light or sunlight
  • Origin: Made in Germany

How to paint correctly

  1. Clean the surface and let it dry. You can paint highly absorbent surfaces such as wallpaper, paper or wood directly; prime smooth surfaces such as glass or painted metal first.
  2. Stir the varnish thoroughly, especially at the bottom of the tin – the glow pigments settle over time.
  3. Apply with a brush or roller, approx. 40 µm per coat. The varnish is dry after approx. 1 hour, and you can apply the next coat after approx. 1 hour. 3–4 coats give maximum afterglow.
  4. Outdoors, also seal the dried layer with clear varnish – the glow varnish itself is not weatherproof.

Tip: The lighter the surface, the more strongly the varnish glows. Prime dark surfaces white first.

What's included

1 metal tin with 250 ml glow varnish white, ready to use.

Good to know

Afterglow is an aid to orientation and a visual effect, not a light source: it becomes visible in real darkness. Low odour, acrylic-based. The safety data sheet and technical data sheet with application notes are available in the downloads on this page.

Frequently asked questions

How many coats do I need?
3–4 coats for maximum afterglow, approx. 40 µm per coat. You can apply the next coat after approx. 1 hour. You can paint absorbent surfaces directly; prime smooth surfaces first.
Can I use the glow varnish outdoors?
The varnish is intended for indoor use and is not weatherproof. Outdoors, also seal the dried layer with a clear varnish. The glow is only visible where it is truly dark.
Why has something settled at the bottom of the tin?
Those are the glow pigments. They are heavier than the varnish and sink over time. Stir thoroughly right down to the bottom before painting, and they will be distributed again.
What is white good for if it glows more weakly?
For surfaces that should stay white and inconspicuous by day and only show a brief effect in the dark. If you need a long, strong afterglow, green or blue-green is the better choice.
Which varnish colour glows most strongly?
Green and blue-green with a whitish daylight colour glow most strongly and for the longest time. For technical reasons, dyed shades such as orange, and the white, glow more weakly and for a shorter time.
