Glow stones are broken pieces of stone that store light during the day and release it in the dark – without electricity, cables or batteries. Brown is above all an earthy colour accent: the stones only glow faintly and look best among colours that glow more strongly. Place them loose in a flower bed or pot, or work them into concrete, resin and terrazzo.

Properties

  • Shape: irregularly broken pieces of stone, each approx. 2 cm
  • Material: based on strontium aluminate
  • Afterglow duration: up to 2 hours, and only faintly, after full charging in complete darkness
  • Charging: with daylight or artificial light, as often as you like; just a few seconds to minutes are enough, UV light is fastest
  • Use: indoors and outdoors

How to use the glow stones

  • Loose as decoration: in garden gravel, flower pots, planters, vases, rock gardens or along paths.
  • In resin: embed them in epoxy or casting resin, for example for bowls, tabletops or decorative objects.
  • Concrete, terrazzo, stair treads: press them into the still damp surface and sand flush after curing – mixed into the compound, the stones disappear. Alternatively, embed them in a transparent, walk-on layer.
  • Outdoors: choose a spot that gets enough light during the day.

What's included

300 g glow stones brown, piece size approx. 2 cm, in a poly bag.

Good to know

Afterglow is an aid to orientation and a visual effect, not a light source: it becomes visible in real darkness, hardly under a street lamp. The stones are not a toy.

Frequently asked questions

How long do the brown stones glow?
Up to 2 hours, and only faintly, after full charging in complete darkness. They are at their strongest directly after charging, then the glow gradually fades.
How long do the stones need to be in the light?
Only briefly: just a few seconds to minutes of light are enough to charge them. UV light is fastest. The stones can be recharged as often as you like.
Can I use the stones outdoors?
Yes, the stones are suitable for indoor and outdoor use. Place them in a spot that gets enough light during the day. The glow is only visible where it is truly dark at night.
Can I work the stones into concrete?
Mixed into the compound, they disappear in the concrete. Better: press the stones into the still damp surface and sand flush after curing, or embed them in a transparent, walk-on layer of epoxy or exterior varnish.
Which colour glows most strongly?
Green and blue-green are the base shades and glow most strongly and for the longest time. Dyed shades glow more weakly; brown serves mainly as a colour accent.
Is the material radioactive?
No – like all modern glow pigments. The glow comes solely from stored light.
