Pink-Ocean Pink is a tinted glow pigment with a bold signal colour: in daylight it is bright pink, and after charging it glows pink in the dark. It is suitable for resin art, decoration and nail design, where the colour should stand out during the day as well.

Properties

  • Material: strontium aluminate doped with europium and dysprosium, with a protective coating – making it water-resistant
  • Colour: bold pink by day, pink in the dark
  • Afterglow duration: up to 2 hours after a full charge in complete darkness; strongest in the first few minutes
  • Particle size: approx. 20–30 µm (1 µm = one thousandth of a millimetre)
  • Charging: with any light source, fastest with UV light or sunlight (a few minutes)
  • Heat: tinted pigment – do not process above approx. 150 °C
  • Classification: not classified as hazardous under CLP – see safety data sheet

How to use the glow powder

The pigment does not dissolve; instead, it is stirred into a carrier: epoxy and casting resin, clear varnish, acrylic paint, glue, paste, wax or silicone. As a starting value we recommend approx. 20% pigment, relative to the carrier material; in opaque carriers such as white wall paint, rather 30–50%. Test the mixture on a small sample first.

  • The more transparent and lighter the carrier, the stronger the glow. Prime dark surfaces in a light colour first.
  • In thin resin the pigment sinks: let the resin thicken briefly, then stir it in.
  • You can also sprinkle the powder onto adhesive surfaces such as glue, wax or paste, or apply it in clear varnish with an airbrush.
  • Outdoors, use weatherproof clear varnishes or epoxy.

What's included

40 g glow powder Pink-Ocean Pink in a resealable poly bag.

Good to know

For technical reasons, tinted shades glow more weakly and for a shorter time than green or blue-green with a whitish daylight colour. In return, the powder shows a bold colour during the day as well. Afterglow is an orientation and effect aid, not lighting: it becomes visible in real darkness, but hardly under a street lamp. Colours look different in photos depending on the camera and charging. The raw pigment is not a toy. When processing larger quantities, avoid dust and contact with skin and eyes.

Frequently asked questions

How long does Pink-Ocean Pink glow compared with other colours?
Pink-Ocean Pink glows for up to 2 hours after a full charge in complete darkness. The pigments with a whitish daylight colour and a green or blue afterglow glow the longest and most brightly – up to 12 hours. The glow is strongest in the first few minutes; after 1–2 hours it fades into a glimmer.
How does Pink-Ocean Pink differ from Pink-Pink?
In the shade. You can see the difference most easily by comparing the product images. Both pigments are tinted and glow for up to 2 hours after a full charge in complete darkness.
How much glow powder do I need?
As a starting value, approx. 20% relative to the carrier material – so about 20 g for 100 ml of varnish. In opaque carriers such as white wall paint, 30–50%. 40 g is therefore enough for around 200 ml of clear carrier. Test the mixture on a small sample first.
Does the powder also glow under black light?
Yes. The pigments additionally fluoresce under UV or black light. The brighter and more vivid the daylight colour, the more vivid the fluorescence appears. The afterglow, on the other hand, can only be seen when the light is off.
Can I mix different glow powders?
Yes, but not like liquid paint according to colour theory: the grains remain individually visible and no new mixed shade is created. Mixing a weak shade with some green or blue-green extends the afterglow; if you look closely, the stronger grains then stand out.
