White-White is a very white powder in daylight and glows whitish with a slight blue tint in the dark. It is the right choice when the daylight colour should stay neutral, for example on white surfaces or in clear resin. However, the afterglow is short and clearly weaker than with green or blue-green.

Properties

  • Material: strontium aluminate doped with europium and dysprosium, with a protective coating – making it water-resistant
  • Colour: very white by day, whitish to slightly bluish in the dark
  • Afterglow duration: up to 2 hours after a full charge in complete darkness; most intense in the first few minutes
  • Particle size: approx. 20–30 µm (1 µm = one thousandth of a millimetre) – fine enough for brushes, varnish and casting resin
  • Charging: with any light source, fastest with UV light or sun (a few minutes)
  • Temperature: tinted pigment – max. approx. 150 °C
  • Classification: not classified as hazardous under CLP – see safety data sheet

How to use the glow powder

The pigment does not dissolve; it is stirred into a carrier: epoxy and casting resin, clear varnish, acrylic paint, glue, wallpaper paste, wax or silicone. As a starting point we recommend approx. 20% pigment relative to the carrier; in opaque carriers such as white wall paint, rather 30–50%. Test the mixture on a small sample first.

  • The more transparent and lighter the carrier, the stronger the glow. Prime dark surfaces in a light colour first.
  • In thin resin the pigment sinks: let the resin thicken briefly, then stir it in.
  • You can also sprinkle the powder onto sticky surfaces such as glue, wax or wallpaper paste, or apply it in clear varnish with an airbrush.
  • For outdoor use, use weather-resistant clear varnishes or epoxy.

What's included

40 g glow powder White-White in a resealable poly bag.

Good to know

For technical reasons, white glows briefly and rather weakly. If a long glow matters more to you than a pure white daylight colour, choose green or blue-green with a whitish daylight colour. Afterglow is an aid for orientation and effects, not a light source: it becomes visible in real darkness and barely under a street lamp. Colours look different in photos depending on the camera and the charge. The raw pigment is not a toy. Avoid dust and contact with skin and eyes when processing larger quantities.

Frequently asked questions

How long does White-White glow compared with other colours?
White-White glows for up to 2 hours after a full charge in complete darkness. The pigments with a whitish daylight colour and green or blue afterglow glow longest and most intensely – for up to 12 hours. The glow is most intense in the first few minutes; after 1–2 hours it turns into a faint glimmer.
When is White-White the right choice?
When the surface should stay as white as possible by day, without a colour cast – for example on white walls, furniture or in clear resin. For markings that need to stay visible for a long time, green or blue-green are more suitable.
How much glow powder do I need?
As a starting point, approx. 20% relative to the carrier – so about 20 g for 100 ml of varnish. In opaque carriers such as white wall paint, 30–50%. 40 g is therefore enough for around 200 ml of clear carrier. Test the mixture on a small sample first.
What charges the powder and how long does it take?
With any light source. Guide values for a full charge: UV light from 365 nm 2–4 minutes, sun 6–9 minutes, fluorescent lamp 20–24 minutes, incandescent bulb about 25 minutes. After that it glows most intensely and gradually becomes weaker.
Are the pigments radioactive?
No – like all modern glow pigments. The glow comes solely from stored light.
