Pink/rose-red combines a vivid pink daylight colour with a rose-red afterglow in the dark. This makes the design stand out in daylight and keeps it visible in the dark after charging. A true red is technically not possible with glow pigments – the glow looks pink to reddish.

Properties

  • Material: strontium aluminate doped with europium and dysprosium, with a protective coating – which makes it water-resistant
  • Colour: vivid pink by day, rose-red in the dark
  • Afterglow duration: up to 2 hours after full charging in complete darkness; at its strongest in the first few minutes
  • Particle size: approx. 20–30 µm (1 µm = one thousandth of a millimetre)
  • Charging: with any light source, fastest with UV light or sunlight (a few minutes)
  • Heat: dyed pigment – do not process above approx. 150 °C
  • Classification: not classified as hazardous under CLP – see safety data sheet

How to use the glow powder

The pigment does not dissolve; it is stirred into a carrier: epoxy and casting resin, clear varnish, acrylic paint, glue, paste, wax or silicone. As a starting point we recommend approx. 20% pigment relative to the carrier; in opaque carriers such as white wall paint, rather 30–50%. Test the mixture on a small sample first.

  • The more transparent and lighter the carrier, the stronger the glow. Prime dark surfaces in a light colour first.
  • In thin, runny resin the pigment sinks: let the resin thicken slightly, then stir it in.
  • You can also sprinkle the powder onto sticky surfaces such as glue, wax or paste, or apply it in clear varnish by airbrush.
  • For outdoor use, choose weatherproof clear varnishes or epoxy.

What's included

40 g glow powder pink/rose-red in a resealable poly bag.

Good to know

For technical reasons, dyed shades glow more weakly and for a shorter time than green or blue-green with a whitish daylight colour. In return, the powder shows a strong colour by day. Afterglow is an aid to orientation and a visual effect, not a light source: it becomes visible in real darkness, hardly under a street lamp. Colours look different in photos depending on the camera and the charging. The raw pigment is not a toy. When working with larger quantities, avoid dust and contact with skin and eyes.

Frequently asked questions

How long does pink/rose-red glow compared with other colours?
Pink/rose-red glows for up to 2 hours after full charging in complete darkness. The pigments with a whitish daylight colour and a green or blue afterglow glow longest and most brightly – up to 12 hours. The glow is at its strongest in the first few minutes and fades to a glimmer after 1–2 hours.
How much glow powder do I need?
As a starting point, approx. 20% relative to the carrier – so about 20 g per 100 ml of varnish. In opaque carriers such as white wall paint, 30–50%. 40 g is therefore enough for around 200 ml of clear carrier. Test the mixture on a small sample first.
Does the powder also glow under black light?
Yes. The pigments also fluoresce under UV or black light. The brighter and more vivid the daylight colour, the more vivid the fluorescence. Afterglow, on the other hand, can only be seen when the light is off.
Can I mix different glow powders?
Yes, but not like liquid paint according to colour theory: the grains remain individually visible and no new mixed shade is created. Mixing a weak shade with some green or blue-green extends the afterglow; on close inspection, the stronger grains then stand out.
