Natural Red has a neutral, understated tint in daylight and releases the stored light in the dark as a warm, red-orange glow. It is suitable for accents that should not stand out during the day.
Properties
- Material: strontium aluminate doped with europium and dysprosium, with a protective coating – making it water-resistant
- Colour: light and whitish by day, warm red-orange in the dark
- Afterglow duration: up to 2 hours after a full charge in complete darkness; most intense in the first few minutes
- Particle size: approx. 20–30 µm (1 µm = one thousandth of a millimetre)
- Charging: with any light source, fastest with UV light or sun (a few minutes)
- Heat-resistant: up to 1,200 °C
- Classification: not classified as hazardous under CLP – see safety data sheet
How to use the glow powder
The pigment does not dissolve; it is stirred into a carrier: epoxy and casting resin, clear varnish, acrylic paint, glue, wallpaper paste, wax or silicone. As a starting point we recommend approx. 20% pigment relative to the carrier; in opaque carriers such as white wall paint, rather 30–50%. Test the mixture on a small sample first.
- The more transparent and lighter the carrier, the stronger the glow. Prime dark surfaces in a light colour first.
- In thin resin the pigment sinks: let the resin thicken briefly, then stir it in.
- You can also sprinkle the powder onto sticky surfaces such as glue, wax or wallpaper paste, or apply it in clear varnish with an airbrush.
- For outdoor use, use weather-resistant clear varnishes or epoxy.

Good to know
A true red is technically not possible with glow pigments – the glow looks red-orange. For technical reasons, this shade glows clearly more weakly and for a shorter time than green or blue-green. In return, the surface stays light and inconspicuous by day. Afterglow is an aid for orientation and effects, not a light source: it becomes visible in real darkness and barely under a street lamp. Colours look different in photos depending on the camera and the charge. The raw pigment is not a toy. Avoid dust and contact with skin and eyes when processing larger quantities.
